Love is... Hey Jude

Tyler and I have a baby. His name was once Festus. Now it is Jude. Officially Jude Edward Atticus Morrow.
Jude - because I love the Beatles. Yes. He is named after the song 'Hey Jude'
Edward - That's my grandpas name. He is a wonderful man. My grandma Maxine (these are my dads parents) got really sick a long time ago with a lot of things, but worst of all, dementia. A long time ago meaning at least 6-7 years ago. He loved her so much that he wouldn't put her in a home because he couldn't stand to loose her. So day in and day out my aunt Lori and him took care of her. He changed her and fought with her to take her meds and fed her and loved her every day. What a remarkable man. She just recently passed away this August.
Atticus - my favorite hero from any book. Atticus Finch from 'To Kill a Mockingbird' kicks trash!

I won't lie though... sometimes Ty and I still call him Festus. Or the stoos. Poor kid.

Having a baby is wonderful. Stressful, but wonderful. Sometimes I cry because I don't know why he is crying but then it is all okay because I get to watch him sleep and he makes the cutest faces.

Tyler and I went to the doctor Thursday September 8th and I had a plan. I just wanted to see how far along I was and then I was going to let Dr. Watts that this was going to be a natural birth because I am a self proclaimed hippie and natural is the way I have always dreamed of having a baby. When he came in he let me know I was at a 4. He gave me the option of being induced or waiting. All at once my mind switched gears and I jumped all over being induced. Really, I have no idea why. I said how about tomorrow and he laughed and said how about Monday. So Monday it was. We phoned the hospital Monday morning and they told us to be there at 7:45. So we showed up, got checked in, and Dr. Watts broke my water and started me on pitocin. I remember the first two hours and the contractions and thinking to myself "this is a freaking cake walk. I can totally do this". Then come noon and I was ready to kill someone. I could not take the pain anymore and... I caved. Poor Tyler tried everything to help me through it but I just could take it. They gave me the epidural when I was at a seven and in 20 minutes I went from a 7-10. Dr. Watts was paged and we were ready to have a baby! While we were waiting for Dr. Watts, Judes heart-rate tanked. They tried moving me around and giving me oxygen but nothing was helping. When Dr. Watts got there we discovered that the cord was wrapped around his neck too tightly for Dr. Watts to loosen with his fingers. He let me know that I could try pushing a few times but if I wasn't making any progress then he would have to try using the forceps. I pushed but no success, so the forceps were brought in and just like that Jude arrived. I didn't realize it then but people from the NICU were in the room and they immediately took Jude to make sure he was okay. The cord was wrapped around his neck and his body pretty tight but they were able to cut it and he was PERFECT! No NICU for my little guy. I ended up needing 20 stitches to fix the damage done by the forceps. After everything had calmed down and everyone left us, my nurse (who rocked!) came back in with some percocet. I initially declined because I didn't want to be drugged with my baby but then she said "trust me, I saw what he did to your vagina... you want the percocet". My little Jude is literally the most beautiful baby on this earth and he was SO chill. He stayed awake, just looking around at everything for hours and hours after he was born.
He had so many visitors and the generosity shown by people was truly overwhelming. We received so many gifts and people were just awesome. We had great nurses and the experience was just awesome.
Now, I may be justifying or making myself feel better about taking the epidural but I kind of feel like Heavenly Father played a little bit of a part in the whole process. Had I not been induced, I would have waited longer and he would have had the cord wrapped around him for longer as he got bigger. Had I not had the epidural, I would not have been able to relax and progress so fast and I also would have felt all 20 of those stitches and the forceps. Like I said, maybe I'm kidding myself but that is how I feel about it.

So... without further ado, welcome JUDE

Love is... a letter

The following is a true story, or rather, a true letter. This came to my place of employment (I work for an ENT). This is not a joke.

Dear Sir or Madam:
My name is - - - and I need your help.

I have not sneezed in months and I am terribly worried. Should I be?? I have bled. I have vomited. I even had several seizures but not once have I sneezed. I usually sneeze once a day right after breakfast. I look forward to it. It is something I can count on and I am good at. Therefore, can you prescribe me a medication which will cause me to sneeze? If not should I just go out and get the flu?

I spoke with this guy I know that knows someone that knows a doctor's secretary personally about this to get an opinion. Unfortunately the secretary is on vacation and the guy that knows the guy that knows the secretary is being evasive. So now I am writing you. Won't you please help?

Thank you for reading and responding to my letter.

Your friend,

- - -

Love is... A confession

I must confess... I've been neglecting the blog on purpose. I apologize. I wanted my next post to be magazine worthy pictures of our beautiful new home. Rest assured folks, it's in the works but I'm just not all the way there yet. I need my father in law to come back and use his superhero talent of hanging pictures symetrically one more time before our house becomes a home. And I need to finish Festus' room. Festus, also referred to as the Fest or the Stoos, is the baby in my belly. He is currently 33 weeks old. He's pretty much his fathers son. Anyway, as soon as those things happen, the pictures will happen. So, to hold you over during the finishing touches, I've compiled some short stories and pictures of the past little while.

Poor Tyler had to fix my car... again. He worked so hard! It is so nice to have a husband that will do what it takes to solve a problem. He even drove me to work for two days until my car was fixed.

Tyler recently took me up to the outlet shops in Park City. We all got some things. We being Tyler, me, and the Fest. These are Tylers sweet JCrew socks.

This is just me demonstrating that I don't have toes anymore.
Tyler is playing in an indoor soccer league! It is really fun to go and watch him play. He plays on a team with Spencer DeMann which in effect means that Kalie and I get to sit with each other and hang out! She is also so very patient in teaching me the ways of indoor soccer.

Lastly, but not leastly... we went up with Emma and Ike to their cabin for Isaac's birthday. Emma was so prepared! We had lunch out on the deck and went four wheeling and had scrumptious tinfoil dinners and cupcakes (because Emma is the cupcake QUEEN) and s'mores. It was SO much fun.

Love is... changes

So many things have changed! Some good, some exciting, and some sad.

1. We have a new nephew. His name is Lucas Gary Morrow and he is a stud. I was actually present at his birth which makes him #1 in the running to be my favorite nephew.

2. Not only did this sweet couple get married 2 years ago but... BUT (you CANNOT even imagine the next chapter in their lives) they are going to PERU! To build the LDS temple there. HOLLA! They rock my socks off.

3. We bought a home. A town home but still... a home. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. 2 car garage. Enough cabinet space for all my dishes. Its thrilling. I have never enjoyed looking at paint and flooring choices more in my life. Aren't I lucky that my husband can provide such a life for me?
It's still in the works but here are some pictures. We move in on the 25th of June so feel free to roll up your sleeves and come do some manual labor.

4. This is the sad one. Tylers good friend from high school named Brynn Barton passed away last Tuesday. She was involved in a hit and run while riding her bike. She was such an awesome person!! She always came and supported everyone in everything. She was so funny and her and Malorie were the first female friends of Ty's to really welcome me into their group. We both miss her.

Love is... addicted

Don't worry guys, I am still addicted to Target and Listverse, but! as the every expanding internet broadens its horizons, I must do the same. Ready for some new addictions? Probably not, because you will probably become addicted too....

Whole Foods

Lavender infused honey? Orange blossom cheese? Vegan hummus with oregano pita chips? Vegan peanut butter cookies? Fruit you'd sell your soul for? Where has this been all my life? I spent too much this week (on ALL vegan purchases) at Whole Foods. You should go. It will change your life. And your stomach.

Pinterest

What is this you ask? The best answer is to go here but if you don't have the time, let me explain. It is a place that has massive amounts of beautiful pictures that will "interest" you and therefore you can "pin" them to your board. You can have a board for anything that interests you. This is great because I love lots of things and I am always saving pictures to the laptop. This saves the laptop space, me organizing time, and Tyler an aneurism from looking at all my girly things.

The O.C.
Yes, I am a 22, almost 23, almost mother that is slowly becoming addicted to the OC. It started out innocently enough... I like the music they use in their soundtracks okay? Then I started watching youtube clips and before you know it I have added the first season to our Netflicks que. Needless to say Tyler is going to be thrilled. There's something about teenage angst to good music that captures the soul.

Love is... mothers day

This is what I got for Mothers Day...

This is what Tyler got for Mothers Day... (it's a white hair)

I know I said I was going to blog about our house (townhouse). I lied. I am waiting to take some pictures, you know, when everything becomes officially official.

Love is... royally obsessed

Bet you haven't seen a post about the royal wedding yet!... NOT! But seriously guys, I loved so many things and then I didn't really like some other things. So, since I am Canadian and since Canada was once Britain and our money has the Queens face one it, here is a tribute to the Royal wedding and all of its surprises... even the not so good ones.

The dress... the train... how PERFECT!

The makeup... not so thrilled. For a do it yourself job you will be in front of millions I think she did great... but the eye liner is a little gothic for me.
Pleased audience... not so pleased flower girl.
Cute, appropriate hat Joss Stone
Not appropriate and embarrassing Eugenie and Beatrice... and the names Eugenie and Beatrice

Beautiful sister in a gorgeous gown
Ex girlfriend of Prince Harry... not the cutest.

Perfect couple aside from the bride and groom
Not so perfect, definitely conniving "I look like a horse" step mother and father. I hate them both.
Out of the whole thing, this is my favorite picture. They are totally sharing a face with each other. Tyler and I shared a face... they are sharing a face. I LOVE IT!

Thanks for humoring me you guys. I feel a lot better now that I have my royal wedding picture critique off my chest. You should also know that I stole 100% of these pictures from people.com... hopefully I don't get into legal trouble over that.

Stay tuned... next week I'll probably write about OUR FIRST HOUSE!!!!!!!!
